The closest station, Higashi-Koenji is on Marunouchi subway line. This line is running through Nakano, Shinjuku, Akasaka and around Ko-kyo which is emperor palace, then arrive at Ikebukuro at last. Most foreigners think Subway lines in Tokyo are too complicated but once you get used to, it will take you any place!
